Connective tissue is of vital importance for the human body. This tissue made up of fibres, provides support, binds together, and protects tissues and organs of the body. Connective tissues :
A tissue is by definition an ensemble of similar cells that together carry out a specific function. The purpose of connective tissue is to support the other tissues of the body so that they are operational. One of its functions is to ensure the proper reception of nutrients and the elimination of toxins.
They are present in different forms. There are three main groups of connective tissues. The first is the loose connective tissue holding organs in place and attaches epithelial tissue to other underlying tissues. Then there is the dense connective tissue, which helps to attach muscles to bones and to link bones together at joints. Finally, we find the specialized connective tissues, this one is defined by different tissues with specialized cells and substances. – collagens: these keep the tissue strong and thick enough not to tear easily.
– cross-linked: regenerate the body into collagen and immunocompetent cells.
Connective tissue diseases
The Elhers-Danlos Syndrome is a disease that weakens the connective tissues of your body. These are things like tendons and ligaments that hold parts of your body together. EDS can make your joints loose and your skin thin and easily bruised. It also can weaken blood vessels and organs
The fact that the production of collagen is affected will change the way the body functions in people with EDS. The effects are:
– hyper elasticity in the skin
– a higher frequency of muscle tears
– longer healing time
– joint pains
– hematomas
In addition to it, also blood vessels are also affected, and this can cause cardiovascular problems.
