GMOVE-SUIT and rehabilitation

Being accompanied and supported by the GMOVE-SUIT during orthopedic or trauma rehabilitation sessions is a real plus for both patient and physiotherapist. Thanks to the active rhythmic compression, a whole rehab cycle is possible with the equipment. Based on the principle of pressotherapy while remaining mobile, GMOVE-SUIT activates its air chambers according to the treatment needs.

Rehabilitation in orthopaedics/traumatology

Beginning of the rehabilitation cycle: for instance, management of a post-surgical oedema or rupture of the cruciate ligaments. GMOVE-SUIT will facilitate the walking resumption thanks to pain relief and an increased stability. This relief is related to the intermittent compression that accompanies the sural triceps muscles for venous return.

It will promote drainage in case of edema, as well as recovery during and after the effort made during the rehabilitation session. GMOVE-SUIT also helps to prevent orthostatic problems. Muscle compression will improve motor control through better recruitment of motor units. The active compression of the mechanoreceptors leads to an increased proprioception.

End of the rehabilitation cycle:

Muscular strengthening is made by applying higher pressure on the lower limbs, for an application inspired by the KAATSU method, this technique reduces blood flow and oxygen supply, resulting in an ischemia increase during contractions. It allows to do a more intense effort, reproducing heavy work without the need for it. The patient will not risk injury and will generate muscle growth thanks to the metabolic stress generated.

Rehabilitation for people with psychomotor disorders

The point of the GMOVE-SUIT is to facilitate walking by offering better stability and control. Thanks to intermittent compression at various levels, we find the following effects:

1 – The skin baroreceptors are stimulated by the compression, and messages are transmitted to the brain to be more focused on the lower limbs.

2 – The recruitment of motor units is facilitated by the compression of the muscles.

Effect 1 + 2 = focused attention and efficient contraction result in better coordination.

3 – Activation of the mechanoreceptors located in the fascias, which are essential and have an influence on proprioception.

4 – Most of the patients suffering from balance disorders have limited autonomy. GMOVE-SUIT accompanies the venous return, allowing to optimize the rehabilitation session by decreasing the fatigue and the pause time between the series of exercises.

The GMOVE-SUIT equipment is also used by patients at home for total support in order to get out of the deconditioning spiral during exercise.

The use of GMOVE-SUIT active compression for psychomotor disorders has been tested on patients with multiple sclerosis, Ehlers-Danlos syndrome and Parkinson’s disease.

Conclusion: an equipment that accompanies all kinds of patients during all stages

GMOVE-SUIT can be used for orthopedics/traumatology rehabilitation in order to relieve pain and deflate swelling, and in order to obtain a quicker return to walking. The patients regain a capacity of balance while avoiding orthostatic disorders. It is also possible to simulate intense effort to amplify the muscular reinforcement. The most concrete examples are post-operative knee rehabilitation or knee/ankle sprains.

For patients suffering from psychomotor disorders, the aim is to influence the mechanoreceptors then they can regain proprioceptive sensations. The effects obtained are an improvement in balance, a minimization of limb dislocation, pain relief and a more fluid walk.
